     Oh man, do we have a treat for you fans of little metal monsters and dudes and stuff. Some of the industries most talented and best known sculptors and painters will be all up in your grill. We've got professional mini painters like Judith Northwood, Bethany Gecina, and Scott Frank to help you bring your figures to life. World famous sculptor Sandra Garrity will give demos on sculpting and put a little happiness in your life with her charming smile and delightful personality. Games like Quick Sculpt and Sandra Says are big crowd pleasers. Oh, and do't forget PAINT THIS! the CotC miniature painting contest with prizes and all sorts of greatness. Paint your minis at the show in our free miniatures Paint & Take, sponsored by Reaper Miniatures, or bring them from home already painted. Not only that, but our awesome guests will be running classes throughout the con, demonstrating all sorts of beginner to advanced techniques. Seriously, you don't want to miss this. Con on the Cob has one of the bestest miniatures programs of any con in the world and we're DANG proud of it, buster!

Miniature Prep - Thursday 5:00pm
     Before the first drop of paint goes on a mini, there are a few things that need to be done for best results. This class will give you a head start on how to clean and prepare a mini for painting including smoothing mold lines, removing mold release, the nuts and bolts of primers and assembly of multi-part minis. The class will be hands-on, with tools, glue and green stuff you can use. Some minis will be available, or bring your own, fresh from the package.

Miniature Painting Basics
- Friday 10:00am
     If painting a miniature seems daunting, this class can help. It covers the fundamental techniques of basecoat, wash and drybrush. Seeing and practicing key skills such as thinning the paint and loading the brush will help give you what you need for consistent results and less frustration. The class will be hands-on, with brushes and paint you can use. A mini will be provided, or bring your own primed mini.

Intermediate Miniature Painting - Friday 1:00pm
      So you’ve painted a few minis, put the paint generally where you want it, and would like to take the next step. This class is for you. Emphasis is on key skills such as thinning paint for various uses, loading the brush, wet-blending and layering, better detail, and some hints on making color choices that work. The class will be hands-on, with brushes and paint you can use. A mini will be provided, or bring your own primed mini.
 

Painting Skin Tones
- Saturday 3:00pm
      Painting skin tones may seem daunting, but there are ways to approach color choices along with some tricks and techniques that can make them a whole lot easier. The emphasis of the class will be hands-on, but we’ll also cover planning, examples and non-human/special effects for skin. The class will be hands-on, with brushes and paint you can use. A mini will be provided, or bring your own primed mini. 

Painting Reds - Sunday 10:00 am
      From brilliant scarlet to somber burgundy, getting reds to look just the way you want them can be a challenge. This class will review some elements of color theory then jump into the selection of paints to help you match the vision in your mind on the mini in your hand. The class will be hands-on, with brushes and paint you can use. A mini will be provided, or bring your own primed mini.

Beginning Sculpting - Friday 5:00pm
     The basics of miniature sculpting from the ground up.

Intermediate Miniature Sculpting
- Saturday 10:00am
     Some more advanced miniature sculpting techniques.

Advanced Miniature Sculpting
- Saturday 3:00pm
     Even more advanced sculpting techniques.


PAINT THIS! - The CotC Miniature Painting Contest
Yes indeed, Con on the Cob is proud to present Paint This! the CotC Miniatures Painting Extravaganza. Bring prepainted minis to the show or paint them at the Paint & Take. It doesn't matter to us. What does matter is that you did the painting yourself and that you had fun doing it.
The contest is open to everyone, regardless of age or experience. There is no entry fee and each person may enter as many minitaures in each category as they want.
First place winners in each category will receive great prizes. Best of show (one miniature selected from among all the categories) will win a genuine Corny Award. Winners will be announced at the award presentation ceremony Sunday afternoon.

3. FANTASY/SCI-FI/HORROR MONSTER MINIATURE
4. 'YOUNGBLOOD' MINIATURE
CATEGORY BREAKDOWN
1. FANTASY MINIATURE
This includes any miniature that can easily be identified as a fantasy non-monster miniature. Miniatures that are fantasy and a monster will go into the monster category.
2. SCI-FI MINIATURE
This includes any miniature that can easily be identified as a Sci-Fi non-monster miniature. Miniatures that are Sci-Fi and a monster will go into the monster category. Steampunk non-monster miniatures will go into this category.
3. FANTASY/SCI-FI/HORROR MONSTER MINIATURE
This includes any miniatures that can easily be identified as a monster miniature. Simple enough.
4. 'YOUNGBLOOD' MINIATURE
This is an open category for all painters under the physical age of 13.
SUBMISSIONS
Models may be submitted starting Thursday, November 2nd beginning at 4pm at the Paint N Take Table near the Art Show. The deadline for submissions is 12pm on Sunday, November 11th. Painters must submit all entries in person. The painter need not be present to win, but must notify the contest staff if extenuating circumstances prevent them from attending the awards ceremony.
JUDGING AND AWARDS
Judging will take place at or about 8pm Saturday evening and the results will be given out on Sunday during the Award Ceremony. Awards will be awarded in each category for first. second and third place.
CONTEST RULES
1. Enter as many times as you have miniatures.
2. Conversions and sculpting are allowed. Any scale miniature is allowed.
3. Please adhere to basing regulations. Scenic bases are allowed only as stated in category descriptions.
4. By submitting an entry you agree to allow the model to be photographed by the Con.
5. Painters must personally submit all entries.
6. Entrants may only enter models painted by them personally.
7. All decisions of the judges are final.
8. Entrants understand that the competition coordinators and judges will make all attempts to keep the miniature from harm, but accidents do happen.
9. Have fun!! Anyone caught not having fun will be disqualified and fed to a horde of angry gerbils.
